Design Challenge
Another pandemic has arrived, and many people are choosing to stay home. With this challenge in mind, the San Diego County Fair has decided to make a virtual companion to their in-person fine art exhibit. You have been hired by the fair’s marketing director to design a website or app that gives viewers the option to experience the exhibit remotely. This should be an easy-to-navigate experience that provides access to the art, and information about the exhibit each day.

You will need to create a cohesive theme (aka a design system) for the app/website. This will include some kind of branded badge or logo element. Begin by thinking of a style of art that inspires you, a designer you like, or something as simple as a pattern, texture, or color palette. Research your chosen visual elements and consider how they might be used in your app. Perhaps other designers have used similar elements effectively in other places. Then, design the app or website using the design system you created. You will need to show a minimum of 4-5 screens.

Solution
I chose a photographic theme, titled “Through the Lens,” as a proposed theme for the San Diego Fair. This allowed me the freedom to include quite a bit of my own photography in my mock art exhibits for the fair. This designed website would theoretically serve as a virtual companion to an in-person exhibit within the fair. For analogous inspiration, I pulled research from other websites such as the actual San Diego Fair website and the Museum of Modern Art website. These websites gave a good jumping off point in terms of structure to pull inspiration from and then implement into my own design system.
